Credit Union of Atlanta Hosts Member Appreciation Community Event

Credit Union of Atlanta celebrated its members with a Member Appreciation Cookout on Friday, June 26th at the credit union's main branch located at 670 Metropolitan Parkway in Atlanta. Members and the community enjoyed free hot dogs, hamburgers and more, accompanied by a live radio remote by Old School 99.3FM.

Not only did members enjoy delicious grilled food and music, they also got a chance to compete in hula hoop and dance challenges for a chance to win concert tickets to some of the hottest upcoming music concerts. There were also credit union giveaways for members to take home with them. "The member appreciation event was a great way for Credit Union of Atlanta to simply say thank you to its loyal members and to tell everyone in the community about all of the exceptional products and services the credit union has to offer." said Monique Dunbar, interim president and chief executive officer.

On site, to share financial tips with members was the credit union's new Spokesman, Author, Speaker and former CNN Financial Expert, Clyde Anderson. "I think it is imperative that we get to know our members and speak with them about what is most important to them and how they can achieve their overall financial goals," said Anderson. "I'm honored to have partnered with a credit union who understands the importance of reaching their members where they are so that they can better understand and create solutions that best fit their needs." Credit Union of Atlanta Celebrates 87th Annual Meeting

Credit Union of Atlanta (CUA) celebrated its 87th Annual Meeting with members on April 27, 2015 at the Cleveland L. Dennard Center in Atlanta. The board members of Credit Union of Atlanta provided the membership with an opportunity to listen to reports from the leadership team to gain a deeper understanding of policies and procedures that were implemented in 2014 and those that will be implemented in 2015, which will directly influence the direction of the credit union.

Members also addressed the board of directors with their concerns or questions which were answered by the Board Chair, Calvin Tucker and the Interim CEO, Monique Dunbar. The event was hosted by CNN Financial Expert, Clyde Anderson and catered by one of Atlanta's top celebrity catering companies, Fuller Foods, LLC. The members were also serenaded by Unknown Lyric, an acoustic, classical soul duo award-winning and nationally recognized band that received a standing ovation.

Concerns from the membership were recorded by the board of directors to review and address in the upcoming year. "We are so grateful for our loyal members who are always willing to provide insight and a different perspective on ways Credit Union of Atlanta can better meet their needs. We are consistently looking for ways to reach our members and help them improve their financial future." said Monique Dunbar, Interim CEO of Credit Union of Atlanta.

Credit Unions Help Youth Get Wild about Savings

Credit Union of Atlanta (CUA) celebrated National Credit Union Youth Month, along with credit unions all over the nation, to encourage early financial literacy. This year's theme was, "Wild About Savings™," helping youth to understand the importance of saving.

According to a recent Junior Achievement® study, 51 percent of students wished their high school offered financial literacy instruction for them and their families. As part of the National Credit Union Youth Month celebration, CUA took part in the 8th Annual Hank Stewart Foundation Career Day at Towers High School. The event provided an opportunity for CUA to speak directly to students about saving and the importance of budgeting to meet their needs for day-to-day living. Credit Union of Atlanta's Interim CEO, Monique Dunbar, had an opportunity to speak about youth literacy, savings and credit unions on local radio stations. "I'm extremely passionate about teaching our youth early in life about living a healthy financial lifestyle to help them better understand the role money plays in their overall success," said Dunbar.

Another part of CUA's youth month activities were The Board of Directors Memorial Scholarship giveaways, the credit union awarded scholarships to five deserving youth from ages seven through 24. The recipients received their award at the credit union's 87th Annual Meeting on Monday, April 27th. Credit Union of Atlanta is proud to be a part of the credit union movement's initiative to increase youth financial literacy.
